Sarasota: Where Creativity Flourishes

Email share

One of my favorite things about the art community in Sarasota is how it surrounds you. You don’t have to visit a performance hall or a museum, you can see installations in the roundabouts, wall murals or even walking around St. Armands Circle. When I visit Sarasota, time seems to slow down. You get that a lot when you’re living or visiting beach towns, but don’t mistake its laidback atmosphere as not having the attraction of the big city. You’ll find world-class art in the museums, an opera, orchestra, performance halls and of course the circus arts.  And as much as we Floridians *may* whine during snowbird season, it’s really them we must thank in part for the cultural offerings. When they came down, they still wanted to be able experience the Orchestra, the Opera and art and led the drive to bring it all to Sarasota.  It brings art into the lives of those living and visiting there each and every day.
