The FSU Cemetery with Buried Opponents

Email share

OK, FSU isn’t literally burying opponents in a cemetery. They bury a piece of sod from away games in a spot located just outside Doak Campbell Stadium. It’s known as the Florida State University Sod Cemetery. It’s a tradition traced back to 1962, and the “sod” comes from rivalry or bowl games. After a win an FSU player will pull up a piece of sod from the football field and bring it back to Tallahassee to be buried. Currently, there are more than 100 pieces of sod representing Seminoles victories.
