The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory includes three different sites, with two here in Florida at Florida State University (FSU) and University of Florida (UF). The third is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. More than a thousand scientists use the lab each year, for free, thanks to the funding provided by the state and the National Science Foundation. The FSU campus is the MagLab headquarters and home to the world’s strongest magnet. How much does this magnet weigh? 35 tons.
